Beef Bourguinonne Recipe
This Beef Bourguinonne is a delicious, rich flavoured beef dish which is so easy to prepare and quietly cooks while you are preparing other dishes for a dinner party.
I have used this quantity often for dinner parties complimented with a chicken dish and pork dish for 12 to 14 servings.
But Beef Bourguignonne is delicious on its own and serves 6.
Preparation time 15-20 minutes.
750 grams or 1 1/2 lb blade or rump steak cut into 2 cm or 1″ cubes
Seasoned flour with salt and pepper
2 tablespoon butter
1 small onion
1 clove garlic, crushed
2 medium carrots sliced in 1cm rings
125 grams or 1 1/4 cups mushrooms sliced
2 tablespoon rich gravy mix powder for dark meat
3/4 cup dry red wine
1/2 cup water
Method:
Toss the meat in the seasoned flour. Melt the butter and brown the meat. Add the onion, garlic, carrots, mushrooms and saut’e for a few 3-5 minutes.
Place the meat and vegetables into a deep casserole dish, combine the gravy mix powder, wine, water and stir into the casserole.
Cover and bake in a preheated oven at 160 o/C or 325 o/F for 2 hours.
Garnish with freshley chopped parsley before serving. ( OPTIONAL)
Serve with either rice or small baked potatoes and cooked green vegetables.
